Regionals is a prestigious choral event where high school singers audition for spots in a choir composed of the top performers from their region. Organized by the Arizona Choral Educators, this event provides an opportunity for students to perform and receive feedback from adjudicators. Exceptional performers may advance to the All State level, representing their schools in a highly competitive and rewarding environment.
All State offers a platform for the most talented singers to collaborate and perform at a state-wide event, further enhancing their choral experience.
Auditions for Regionals typically occur in the fall, with the event itself held in early winter. All State auditions follow shortly after, with the All State event taking place in early spring. The audition process consists of two parts: a vocal solo portion and a sight-reading portion, allowing students to showcase their singing abilities and sight-reading skills.
We encourage all students to prepare diligently and audition for these remarkable opportunities. Your hard work and dedication can lead to incredible experiences and achievements in the world of choral music.
To support this, Mountain View provides vocal coaching at no cost to students who do not currently have a voice teacher. This benefit, provided by the Mountain View Choir Parent Organization, is to help students prepare for their Regional and All State auditions.

Learn about our amazing Senior Choir Scholarships!
Each year, the Mountain View Choir Parent Organization awards several scholarships to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of graduating seniors involved in the MVHS choir program. All senior choir students are encouraged to apply as these funds are designed to support further educational pursuits, whether or not students choose to major in music.
A committee of 9-10 individuals scores various portions of the scholarship application/audition using specific rubrics. Scoring for the senior scholarship is based on four different components:
Activity Summary Form: Listing the various choir/musical activities students have been involved in during high school.
Two Essay Questions: Reflecting on how music has helped them and will continue to help them in their future.
Teacher Recommendations: From four different teachers, including one from a choir teacher.
Vocal Audition: Performing a classical piece (similar in style to what they would sing for a Regional Choir audition) for two judges.
To maximize their chances of receiving a scholarship, students should start preparing as early as freshman year. Participation in auditions, Regional and All State Choirs, and various other choir activities increases their score on the Activity Summary section of the scholarship application, which is a large part of the total overall applicant score.
It's never too early to start preparing! Not only will active involvement boost scholarship opportunities, but it also makes the high school experience more enriching and enjoyable.
